Campus Recreation provides a true career path for Auburn students looking to get "real-world" experience and learn transferable skills. Each position or job family has 2-3 positions and students are able to earn merit increases based on performance.  Please see the chart below for details, and select the link to the job descriptions in the list provided. 

Student Jobs at Campus Recreation

Pay ranges are listed for all job titles. Each position is part of a designated job family with opportunities for pay increases and promotion. 

Most all positions fall into the following categories, regardless of the actual job title:
Attendant: Starting $8.25, Specialist: Starting $10, Supervisor: Starting $12, Lead: $13.75

Example: Lifeguard
Includes lifeguard, head lifeguard, and lead lifeguard. The pay information listed is a range based on which position you are hired for within that family. Starting pay (within the range) is determined by previous experience, skillset, and any required certifications/qualifications. In most cases, students will not be hired as supervisors or leads until working for Campus Recreation for a given period of time.

Location Job Title Description
Aquatics Lifeguard Ensure the safety of all members by preventing and responding to incidents and emergencies at the Campus Recreation leisure/activity pool, while providing quality customer service.
Auburn Outdoors Attendant Responsible for assisting members at the Outdoor Rental Shop and Climbing Wall. Conducts rental transactions for outdoor recreational equipment, prepares for safe outdoor outings, and supervises climbing at the wall.
Competitive Sports Specialist Responsible for the daily operations of the competitive sports program by officiating intramural sports, providing support to multiple playing venues, officials, and equipment during intramural sport contests and club sport practices and games. Ability to complete all essential functions of the Competitive Sports attendant in addition to:
Facilities Attendant Responsible for monitoring facility access in the Rec & Wellness Center, ensuring safety and cleanliness of fitness equipment, recreation areas, and walkways while providing excellent customer service and enforcing department policies.
Group Fitness Instructor (Certified) A certified Group Fitness Instructor has earned a specialty certification or a nationally accredited Group Fitness Instructor certification (ACE, AFAA, NETA) and auditions to be employed with Group Fitness. Certified Group Fitness Instructors are responsible for preparing, polishing, and delivering safe and effective fitness classes for the AU Group Fit pass holders while building rapport with members and ensuring a positive class experience. Certified Group Fitness Instructors are also responsible for following the guidelines of their specialty format and maintaining their certification.
Group Fitness Instructor (Trained) Following the completion of 1 semester of fitness instructor training, trained Group Fitness Instructors are responsible for preparing, polishing, and delivering safe and effective fitness classes for the AU Group Fit pass holders while building rapport with members and ensuring a positive class experience.
Marketing Specialist Performs high-level marketing tasks in the areas of social media, graphic design, copywriting/editing, videography, photography, experiential marketing, and podcasting.
Membership Attendant Serves as the face of the Recreation and Wellness Center, greeting incoming members and guests, leading tour groups through the facility, and providing quality customer care using their knowledge of all available memberships and services.
Olympic/Powerlifting (OPL) Attendant Responsible for monitoring facility access to the Olympic and Powerlifting facility while ensuring student safety and facility cleanliness.  Ensure facility policies and procedures are being followed by all members.    
Personal Training Personal Trainer Responsible for providing clients with a safe and effective exercise program. In addition to safety, the primary duty of the trainer is to motivate, encourage and assist each client in attaining his/her personal fitness goals, as well as improve upon their current fitness level.
Turf and Landscape Attendant Monitors Sportsplex and IM Fields, ensuring safety and cleanliness of equipment, recreation areas, and walkways. Provides excellent customer service and enforces departmental policies. Responsibilities include mowing, trimming, and maintaining grass.
